Alparslan Cağlayan, Fevzi Gandur Lojistik General Manager  says,"In the road transportation, the European route accounts for 80 percent of all our shipments. In 2016, our shipments on this route grew in number by 20 percent compared to 2015, thanks to the inclusion of Denmark, France and Belgium in the destination countries. Our target for this year is to make 30 percent more shipments especially to Scandinavian and Western European countries by adding new countries to our destination portfolio and increasing our market share."

Would you please tell us about logistics infrastructure and vehicle park investments of Fevzi Gandur Logistics, which has left more than 70 years behind in the sector?
As FGL, we have been providing services to our customers as both consultant and service provider in all areas of the logistics sector by relying on an experience of 70 years. The concept of logistics is so broad that when your trade name includes the word “logistics”, you are obliged to respond to very diverse needs of the customer. Unless you are innovative, technology-intensive and solution-focused, you are inevitably destined to fail in the competition. From this point of view, we have heavily invested in many areas where we have become a specialist, such as marine shipping, national and international road transportation, special cargo, project transportation and air cargo, by balancing the experience of 70 years with continuous learning. We have invested in offices, state-of -the-art systems and operation hubs located nearby the business centers where sea and air transportations are concentrated across the country as well as in truck fleets for road transportation. Our vehicle fleet currently include over 80 trucks, trailers, container trailers and low-bed trailers.

alparslan_caglayan_fglWould you tell us about the service areas FGL has concentrated on and the companies set up in this context?
We have been providing services in the areas of Contract Logistics, Road, Air and Sea Logistics, Special Project Logistics and Shipping Agency Services. In 2016, we brought our Contract Logistics and Road, Air and Sea Logistics companies together under one roof as Fevzi Gandur Logistics. We have structured our shipping agency business (Stella Gemi Acentalığı), marine forwarding business (Origin Logistics) and special project logistics business (Smart Logistics) as individual legal entities.

Would you please tell us about the countries and sectors that the company's services have focused on?
The Turkey-Europe route is of course one of the causes to which we owe our existence, like many other Turkish transportation enterprises. We have been providing services on this route since the very day of our establishment. We have been carrying goods by road to the Central and Eastern Europe, Sweden, Italy, Denmark, Germany, Belgium and France directly and to Tunisia and the surrounding countries via Italy by our own trucks. We also have been carrying goods of many industries, primarily automotive, textile and construction, by air and sea to and from industry-intensive cities such as Istanbul, Bursa, Izmir, Mersin, Denizli and Adana, to and from all airports and seaports of the world through our broad agency network. We are also specialized in the carrying of sensitive pharmaceutical products.

How does Turkey-Europe line have a share and a reserve in the business volume of your company? What kind of transport volume do you reach in Europe last year and what are the goals for 2017?
In the road transportation, the European route accounts for 80 percent of all our shipments. In 2016, our shipments on this route grew in number by 20 percent over 2015, thanks to the inclusion of Denmark, France and Belgium in the destination countries. Our target for this year is to make 30 percent more shipments especially to Scandinavian and Western European countries by adding new countries to our destination portfolio and increasing our market share. We are currently holding negotiations and on the verge of entering into some contracts which will considerably enhance our capability of movement within Europe. Our goal is to enter into collaborations with well-established and experienced European companies which represent a certain business volume and flexibility, like us, in order to carry our services in this region to higher levels.

Would you please tell us about the company's future goals, projects and investment plans?
As FGL, our plans and targets for the future are beyond those of a standard logistics firm. We are saying this not as a cliché but by relying on our current negotiations for collaborations which have now reached final stages, as I noted above. Through our new contracts, which we expect to conclude within 2017, and new partners, we target to be among the first 5 largest logistics companies with local capital in the country by growing through a widely spread but plainly organized service network which will offer considerable time saving to our customers in the use of transportation services.
