Boris Blanche named new IRU Managing Director

IRU Secretary General Umberto de Pretto is proud to announce the appointment of Boris Blanche as Managing Director of IRU, the world road transport organisation. He was previously Chief Operating Officer at IRU.
In this newly created position, Boris Blanche will coordinate and strengthen IRU’s advocacy work, in addition to his current role leading operations, finance and the value-added services that IRU provides to the industry, most notably the TIR system. The appointment is effective immediately.
“For over five years, Boris Blanche has been instrumental in helping me successfully drive much-needed change in IRU and significantly contributing to navigating the organisation through challenging times,” said the Secretary General.
He added that, “Boris’ strength, energy, loyalty, commitment and exemplary leadership are great assets to the IRU family and I very much look forward to continue working closely with him as we steer the road transport industry and IRU into the future.”
Boris Blanche joined IRU in 2012 as Head of Internal Control, putting in place risk management controls, better governance systems and organisational restructuring.
As Chief Operating Officer from 2014, he successively headed all operational activities including TIR and transit systems, innovation, insurance and the IRU Academy.
During this time, his strong managerial talents and strategic vision have helped transform IRU to be able to better serve its members, partners and the road transport industry, as well as putting innovation and market intelligence at the heart of the organisation.
As Managing Director, he will continue his key role of assisting the Secretary General in leading this transformation, with a particular focus on further reinforcing IRU’s advocacy work, more effectively making known the pivotal role of the road transport industry in driving trade, economic growth, safety and sustainability.
